Geo Map Camera
Privacy Policy
Effective 10 September 2026 · Last updated 12 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Geo Map Camera app for Android (“Geo Map Camera”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have. It applies to the app published on Google Play under the package name com.geomapcamera.app.
At a glance
- No account. The app has no sign-in and never asks for your name, email address or phone number.
- Your photos and videos stay on your device. They are saved to your gallery. The app has no feature that uploads them to us or anyone else; they leave your device only when you share them.
- Location is used to stamp your photos. To show an address and a map, your coordinates are sent to your device’s geocoding service, and map images of the surrounding area are downloaded from OpenStreetMap. The app never sends your coordinates to its analytics or advertising partners.
- What you stamp is visible to anyone who sees the photo, including the location printed on it and encoded in its QR code.
- The app is free and shows ads. Google AdMob and Firebase Analytics collect device identifiers and usage information. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first.
- We don’t sell your photos, videos or location.
1. Information the app handles
1.1 Photos, videos and sound
When you take a photo or record a video, the app uses your camera and saves the result, with the stamp you configured, to your device’s gallery. The microphone is used only while you record a video, to capture its sound. It is not used for photos.
Photos and videos are processed on your device. We do not receive them.
1.2 Location and sensors
Only after you grant the Location permission, and only while you are using the app, the app reads your precise and approximate location, along with altitude, accuracy, speed, heading and the number of satellites in use. Where your device has them, it also reads the compass, magnetometer and barometer. The app does not access your location in the background.
This information is used to:
- print the location details you enable onto your photo;
- look up the address of your position. The app sends your coordinates to your device’s geocoding service, which on most Android devices is provided by Google;
- draw the map on the stamp and in the app’s photo map. The app downloads map images (“tiles”) of the area around your position from the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s tile servers, which receive the approximate area you are in and your IP address;
- record where each photo was taken in the app’s on-device library.
You can also set a location manually instead of using your device’s location.
1.3 What appears on your photos
The stamp becomes part of the image. Depending on the template and fields you enable, it can show your coordinates, Plus Code, address, country flag, a map of the area, date, time and time zone, compass heading, magnetic field, altitude, accuracy, speed, satellite count, a sequence number, a logo, your note, hashtag or reporting tag, and a QR code containing a Google Maps link to the location.
Anyone who can see the photo, including people you share it with, can read this information. It cannot be removed from a photo afterwards, so turn off any field you don’t want to show before you take the picture.
1.4 Information kept only on your device
The app keeps a library of your captures in its private storage so it can show, organise and report on them. For each capture it stores the file name, date and time, a link to the file in your gallery, a thumbnail, the file size, location details (coordinates, altitude, accuracy, heading, speed, satellite count, address, and whether the device reported a simulated location), the template, folder, note and reporting tag, and, for videos, the length.
It also stores your settings, including templates, folders, file-name format and manually set locations, plus a cache of recently looked-up addresses. PDF reports you create are generated on your device from the captures you choose.
None of this is sent to us.
1.5 Usage and device information (Firebase Analytics)
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and to find problems. The app reports events such as:
- a photo or video was captured: the template used, whether a location fix was available, whether a manual location was used, and the video length;
- a capture failed, and at which step;
- a report was created: its type and number of photos;
- a template was selected;
- the required permissions were granted, or which one was declined;
- which screens were opened;
- whether ads are turned on for your installation.
Firebase Analytics also collects some information automatically, such as an app-instance identifier, your device’s advertising ID where available, device model, operating system and app version, language, approximate country or region derived from your IP address, how the app was installed, and session information such as first launch and time spent in the app.
The app does not send your coordinates, addresses, photos, videos, notes or other text you type to Firebase Analytics.
1.6 Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and shows banner, native, full-screen, rewarded and app-open ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect your device’s advertising ID, IP address (from which an approximate location can be inferred), information about your device and the app, and your interactions with ads. On supported Android versions, Google may also use Android’s Privacy Sandbox features, such as the Topics and attribution reporting APIs.
The app does not give AdMob your GPS location, addresses, photos or notes.
Consent. Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google’s consent form is shown before any ads are requested, and you can choose whether your data may be used for personalised ads. You can change that choice at any time in the app under Settings › Privacy options, which appears wherever consent applies. Elsewhere, ads may be personalised according to your device’s ad settings.

1.7 App configuration (Firebase Remote Config)
The app downloads settings, such as its advertising settings, from Google Firebase Remote Config, so we can adjust them without releasing an update. To do this, Firebase uses an installation identifier and basic information such as app version, device language, time zone and country.
2. Permissions
Android asks you before the app can use your camera, microphone or location. You can change any permission later in your device settings.
| Permission | Why the app uses it |
|---|---|
| Camera | To take photos and record videos. |
| Microphone | To record sound with videos. Not used for photos. |
| Location (precise and approximate) | To stamp photos with where they were taken, look up the address and draw the map. Used only while the app is open. |
| Photos and media | To show, share and delete the captures the app saved to your gallery. The app does not browse or upload your other photos. |
| Storage (Android 12 and earlier) | To save captures to the gallery on older versions of Android. |
| Internet and network status | To download map images, look up addresses, load ads and settings, and send analytics. |
| Vibration and keep screen on | For haptic feedback on the shutter, and to keep the screen awake while the camera is open if you turn that setting on. |
| Advertising ID and ad services | Added by Google’s advertising and analytics SDKs to show and measure ads (see section 1.6). |
| Install referrer | Added by Google’s SDKs to tell how the app was installed. |
3. How information is used
- To provide the app’s features: stamping photos, showing addresses and maps, organising your library and folders, creating reports and sharing.
- To show ads that keep the app free, and to measure how they perform.
- To understand and improve the app, including finding and fixing failed captures.
- To adjust app and ad settings without an app update.
- To prevent fraud and abuse and to meet legal obligations.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases: providing the features you use (necessary to provide the service); your consent, for personalised advertising; and our legitimate interests in understanding, funding and protecting the app, for analytics, non-personalised advertising and fraud prevention.
4. When information is shared
We don’t sell your photos, videos or location. The app shares information only in the following cases.
4.1 Service providers
| Service | What it receives | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Analytics Google LLC | The usage events and device information described in section 1.5 | Firebase |
| Firebase Remote Config Google LLC | An installation identifier, app version, language, time zone and country | Firebase |
| Google AdMob Google LLC | Advertising ID, IP address, device information and ad interactions | |
| Device geocoding service Google, on most Android devices | The coordinates of your position, to return an address | |
| OpenStreetMap tile servers OpenStreetMap Foundation | Requests for map images of the area around your position, your IP address and the app’s name | OSMF |
4.2 When you share
When you tap Share, the photo or video is handed to the app you choose, such as a messaging or email app, together with a caption containing its address and a Google Maps link. What happens next is governed by that app’s privacy policy. Opening a Google Maps link, from a caption or a QR code, is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
4.3 Legal reasons
We may disclose information if required by law, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, us or others.
5. Retention and deletion
- On your device. Your library, settings and cached addresses remain until you delete them. Deleting a capture in the app removes it from the library and, where the app still has access to the file, from your gallery. Uninstalling the app deletes its library, settings and cache. Photos and videos already in your gallery stay there until you delete them.
- Analytics. User-level analytics data is deleted automatically after the retention period set for our Google Analytics property, which is at most 14 months. Aggregated reports that do not identify you may be kept longer.
- Advertising, maps and addresses. Google and the OpenStreetMap Foundation keep the data they receive according to their own policies; see, for example, how Google retains data.
Because the app has no accounts, we generally cannot link data held by these services to you personally. You can reset your advertising ID in your device settings, and uninstalling the app stops any further collection.
6. Your choices and rights
- Permissions. Allow or revoke access in Settings › Apps › Geo Map Camera › Permissions. Without Location, photos can’t be stamped with your current position, but you can still set a location manually.
- What goes on your photos. Choose templates and fields in the app before you take a photo.
- Personalised ads. Use Settings › Privacy options in the app, where it appears. You can also delete or reset your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device settings (usually Settings › Google › Ads or Settings › Privacy › Ads).
- Deleting data. Delete captures in the app, or uninstall it to remove its library, settings and cache.
Depending on where you live, for example under the EU or UK GDPR or US state privacy laws such as California’s, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict its use; to withdraw consent; and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. To make a request, email support@cybercodex.co.in. We may ask for information that helps us find data relating to your device. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Children
Geo Map Camera is not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us at support@cybercodex.co.in and we will take steps to delete it.
8. Security
Your library and settings are kept in the app’s private storage, protected by Android’s app sandbox and your screen lock. The app connects to the services listed above over encrypted HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
9. International transfers
Google and the OpenStreetMap Foundation may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States and the United Kingdom, where data protection laws may differ. Where required, these providers use recognised safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when we add features or change service providers. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app or on its Google Play listing.
